Searching.
Grasping for words.
Seems they’re hidden in the depths of me.
Try to scoop a handful and raise them.
Hand comes up empty.
Where are you words?
Breathe deeply hoping words will be in the breath.
The exhale has no weight.
Hold still and listen.
The atmosphere is blank.
Silence that seems so loud.
Clambering.
Rise to the surface, settle back down.
Chasing.
Deafening void of quiet.
Where are you words?
Smoothing on lotion.
Touching.
Feeling.
Massaging the skin, moisture sinks deep.
Conscious awareness of circling motion.
No words surface.
Food slides down satisfying the hunger within.
Tastes familiar and comforting.
Ration slips in, the soul still longing.
Where are you words?
Blue and green flicker in the flames.
The bright orange log cracks.
Words dance but don’t bow down.
Breath in.
Breath out.
Fuzzy thoughts float.
Where are you words?
Rest in the Spirit.
Expectancy.
Hi Myrna, I enjoyed your poem. I too am a motherless daughter who occasionally posts poems on her blog. I look forward to learning more about your faith journey. Blessings, Julie

Hi Kate!! I hope you haven’t been at a loss for words lately too!
On another note, I wonder what event I might get to see you at soon!?!

Thank you Ruth! I was telling my sister yesterday how I have several very special Ruths in my life!! Love it! It’s strange, I haven’t written poetry in decades, and this one was downloaded to me in a few minutes time, a few weeks ago! I didn’t know if it was supposed to be published on my blog, or if it was just the vehicle to bring on more thoughts and words. It sat in my files, and tonight I felt led to share the poem. The Lord is definitely up to something!

It seems to me your words were there, you just didn’t realize how the Lord was answering your prayer. Beautiful.
